STUDY ON OSTEOPOROSIS AMONG ELDERLY PATIENTS WITH FRACTURE OF PROXIMAL FEMUR WERE TREATED WITH SURGERY

Abstract
Objective: To study osteoporosis among elderly patients with fracture of proximal femur were treated with surgery. Subjects and Methods: 60 patients aged 60 years and older with fracture of proximal femur were treated with surgery at the Department of Joints Surgery – 103 Military Hospital and 30 subjects ages 60 years and older without fracture were examined at Military Hospital 103 from April 2020 to April 2022. Results: The mean age of the study group was 76.42 ± 9.575, control group was 73.6 ± 5,805, the male/female ratio in the study group was 1/1.73, in the control group was 1/2. The mean T-Score of the study group was -2.49 + 1.39, the control group was -1.57 + 1.56, p=0.006. The T-Score was lower in women than in men (-2.82 versus -1.91, p=0.014). In the group of patients with intertrochanteric fracture, the T-Score in the patients who received hip replacement was lower than that in the patients were osteosynthesis with locking plate (-2.9 versus -2.2, p= 0.045). Conclussion: The mean T-Score of the study group was -2.49 + 1.39, the control group was -1.57 + 1.56.
