Abstract

Objective: To describe the situation of drug users and HIV/AIDS-related service use at commune health stations, Phu Tho province. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study conducted on 450 drug users in 30 communes in Phu Tho province. Results: There were 450 drug users participating in the study, accounting for 96.9% of men with an average age of 37.6±7.9. The rate of access to medical information, disease prevention, and health check-ups are all high (over 90%) and have a high rating related to the convenience of using services at the health station such as time, location, good organization and operation, suitable budget. However, the types of tests deployed are quite limited. Conclusion: It is necessary to strengthen communication of health education in the community, especially communication in each household with a drug user or HIV/AIDS infected person. Counseling drug users, HIV/AIDS infected people to participate in drug and HIV/AIDS related services at grassroots health level.
