Abstract

Objective: To evaluate some affecting factors related to long-term results of surgical iridectomy combined with laser iridoplasty in the treatment of acute primary angle-closure glaucoma that were unresponsive to medical therapy without significant cataracts. Subjects and methods: A retrospective and cross-sectional study at 3 years on 28 eyes of 25 patients with confirmed acute primary angle-closure glaucoma who received laser iridoplasty combine with iridectomy and were followed up at 3 research centers. Results: The attack duration and the results of lowering IOP after 3 years had a close correlation to reach the statistically significant threshold, r = 0.371 with p = 0.052 > 0.05. IOP after 1 week with IOP after 3 years had positive correlation with correlation coefficient r = 0.378, p = 0.048 < 0.05. Some other factors of patient characteristics such as age, gender, family history; preoperative factors as well as other early postoperative factors such as IOP, anterior chamber depth,... were not associated with IOP result at 3 years. Conclusion: Long-term results of iridectomy combined with laser iridoplasty were related to the attack duration and early IOP results after intervention.
