Abstract

Objective: Evaluate the results of retroperitoneal laparoscopic ureterolithotomy for upper ureteral stones at Thai Nguyen National hospital. Subjects and methods: Retrospective and prospective description on 81 patients diagnosed upper ureteral stones and underwent retroperotoneal laparoscopic ureterolithitomy at Thai Nguyen National hospital from 01/2020 to 03/2022. Results: 82 patients include 62 males (75.6%) and 20 females (24.4%). The average age of 50.2 ± 11.9 years old (range 26 – 72 years). The mean operative time 64,7 ± 14,2 minutes (range 40 – 120 minutes). Success rate: 98.8% (81/82 cases), one case of conversion to open surgery. Intraoperative complications: 2 cases of peritoneal tear (2.4%), 1 case of genital vein bleeding (1.2%), 1 case of subcutaneous pneumothorax (1.2%), 1 case of conversion to open surgery (1.2%). The average number of days in hospital after surgery is 6.1 ± 1.8 days (range 4-18 days). Early complications after surgery: 2 cases of urine leakage, 1 must have the JJ reset, and 1 will go away on its own. Early results: 76 good (93,8%), 4 moderate (4,9%), 1 bad (1,3%). Conclusion: Retroperitoneal laparoscopic ureterolithotomy is a minimally invasive, safe and effective method for upper ureteral stones.
