Abstract

Clitoria ternatea L. flower contains anthocyanins known as promising sources of bioactive compounds since they have been traditionally used for the treatment of various diseases. The study was for evaluation of in vitro antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity of total ethanol extract and the fractions of Clitoria ternatea L. The results showed that total ethanol extract and all of the fractions of chloroform, ethyl acetate, buthanol, water had in vitro antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. In which, ethyl acetat extract had the highest effect with IC50 of 19,51 ± 1,14 µg/mL in the antioxidant test (higher than that of acid ascorbic 7,98 ± 0,46 µg/mL) and IC50 of 3,02 ± 0,09 mg/mL in the anti-inflammatory test (higher than that of diclofenac natri 1,28 ± 0,02 mg/mL).
