Abstract

The cross-sectional survey aims to investigate the frequency of rubber dam (RD) usage as well as the factors that influence it in clinical practice among dentists who graduated in the year of 2017 to 2020 from Hanoi Medical University. Furthermore, detecting and evaluating any correlations between the time of receiving the graduation certificate, the shift in RD’s educational curriculum, and the prevalence of this isolation device. The results show that: Most of the doctors (75.7%) have used RD in clinical practice before, whereas only 13% always use RD in treatment. The prevalence of using RD increases with graduation year, peaking in 2020 at 79.5%. The majority of respondents (89.9%) confirmed that the source of information about RD was from the undergraduate curriculum; this percentage increases by the year of graduation (p<0.05), but only 39.9% were satisfied with what was taught.
