RELATIONSHIP OF SOME CLINICAL SYMTOMS AND RETINAL DAMAGE IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: to study the relationship between visual acuity, clinical symptoms and retinal damage in patients with type 2 diabetes. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study in 54 diabetic patients with eye damage treated from March 2017 to July 2017 at the Endocrinology Department of Military Hospital 103. Results: Time of disease detection and stage of diabetes were not related to retinal damage (p<0.05). Visual acuity related to retinal damage in patients with type 2 diabetes: thickness, shape of edema, location of central edema. The subjective symptoms (Blurred vision, Distortion, Dark spots, Disturbance of color vision) are related to the thickness, shape of edema and the location of retinal edema. Conclusion: visual acuity and subjective symptoms are related to retinal damage (thickness, edema morphology, lesion location) in patients with type 2 diabetes.
