Abstract
Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the results of non-surgical treatment for chronic periodontitis in the study group. Methods: Conducting a prospective, clinical intervention and controlled study of 60 rheumatoid arthritis patients diagnosed with chronic periodontitis (CP). CP treatment group: included 30 RA patients diagnosed with CP who agreed to intervene with non-surgical chronic periodontitis treatment. Control group: included 30 RA patients diagnosed with CP who did not agree to undergo intervention but agreed to monitor and re-examine. Results: The difference between clinical indicators of periodontitis: PlI, BOP, PD, CAL was statistically significant at the time after 1 month of treatment. PlI, BOP index decreased sharply after 1 and 3 months of treatment. PD, CAL index decreased after 1 month and 3 months of treatment. The mean CP level decreased markedly after 1 month of treatment. Conclusion: The effectiveness of non-surgical chronic periodontitis treatment in rheumatoid arthritis patients showed a better improvement in clinical indicators of periodontitis compared with the control group.
