Abstract

This study aimed to assess the eating disturbance issues of patients with dementia at National Geriatric Hospital in 2022. The cross-sectional study was conducted on patients with dementia who were under treatment at National Geriatric Hospital from April 2021 to April 2022. Eating disturbance issues were evaluated by a specialized questionnaire designed for patients with dementia. Among 63 patients with dementia, over 90% of patients had eating disturbance issues. Appetite changes accounted for the highest percentage (72.6%). There were statistically significant differences in swallowing disturbance, appetite changes, and eating habits among three nutritional status groups.
