Abstract

Objectives: Evaluation role of 18FDG-PET/CT in the primary staging of colonrectal cancer. Patients and methods: A descriptive, retrospective, and prospective study on 38 colorectal cancer patients were taken 18FDG-PET/CT before specific treatment. Results: The stage of 14 patients (36.8%) were changed with 16 different lesions by 18FDG-PET/CT, of which up-stage in 7 patients (15.8%) due to the detection of more distant metastatic lesions, down-stage in 7 patients patients (21.0%) because of excluding distant metastatic lesions in 3 patients, excluding regional lymph node metastases in 5 patients. Conclusion: 18FDG-PET/CT has an important role in diagnosing the pre-treatment stage in colorectal cancer patients.
