THE CLINICAL FEATURES OF COATS DISEASE
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: Describe clinical and paraclinical features of Coats disease. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional retrospective study on 32 eyes of 31 patients diagnosed with Coats disease at National Geriatric Hospital. Patients in the study had a clinical examination, fundus fluorescein Angiography, and optical coherence tomography. All patients in the study were collected clinical and subclinical data through medical records and retinal images. Results: The majority of patients from 4 to 20 years old accounted for 62,5%; Males account for more than females with 78.1%. Most patients had Coats disease in one eye and decreased visual acuity. There are 11 eyes with leukocoria, accounting for 34.4%. All patients had subretinal exudation, telangiectasia, light bulb aneurysms, and macular edema. On fundus angiography, 100% of eyes have telangiectasia, light bulb aneurysms, and retinal non-perfusion areas. On OCT scan. 100% of eyes have subretinal exudation and macular edema, and 6,7% have a retinal detachment. Conclusions: Coats disease has many symptoms, mainly decreased visual acuity, leukocoria, subretinal exudation, telangiectasia, light bulb aneurysms, and macular edema.
