KNOWLEDGE, BELIEF AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE COVID-19 VACCINE OF PARENT WITH CHILDREN FROM 5 TO 11 YEARS OLD IN BINH DUONG PROVINCE IN 2022

Abstract

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic remains a major worldwide concern with health-related, social and economic impacts. Children of all ages are susceptible to COVID-19 infection. Although the majority of cases of COVID-19 in children younger than 16 are asymptomatic or mild, there are reports regarding significant morbidity with a need for hospitalization and intensive care in this population. Vaccine hesitancy, a behavior of delay in acceptance or refusal to vaccinate despite available services, exists in many countries, including Vietnam. Objectives: To determine knowledge and belief about COVID-19 vaccines and acceptance COVID-19 vaccinations and to analyze the relationship between knowledge and belief with acceptance of COVID-19 vaccines of parents with children from 5 to 11 years old in Binh Duong province in 2022. Materials and method: A cross-sectional study was carried on 306 parents with children aged 7-9 years in Binh Duong province. Results: 71.6% parent good knowledge, 78.1% parent have positive belief about the COVID-19 vaccine and 72.2% parent accept the COVID-19 vaccine for children. Parents with no good knowledge and negative belief about COVID-19 have a higher rate of disapproval of vaccination than parents with good knowledge and positive belief. Conclusion: National efforts should be directed to providing reliable information regarding the COVID-19 vaccine. In addition, efforts to combat vaccine hesitancy are essential.
