Abstract

The aim of the study was to evaluate the health education effect of hepatitis B virus (HBV) prevention among parents who have children aged 6 to 12 months at Le Van Thinh Hospital (Hospital District 2), Ho Chi Minh City, between June 2018 and December 2019, using a structured questionnaire to assess knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of HBV prevention, data were collected before health education and after 3 months and 6 months. A total of 47 parents completed the assessment before and after health education, most of them are under 35 years of age and have an education level above high school. The KAP of hepatitis B prevention were low before health education but increased after health education, and the difference was statistically significant (p <0.05). In conclusion, after health education, the level of KAP of parents about HBV prevention improved significantly. This has contributed to the success of the vaccination program against vaccine-preventable diseases for children, especially HBV prevention.
