Abstract

Background: Medical equipment management is the function and operation of an organized system in the field of medical equipment that ensures a certain stable structure and maintains optimal operation and ensure the programs and objectives of that system, in order to develop, exploit and effectively use medical equipment invested in the health sector. Objective: To assess the current situation of essential medical equipment management in some departments and rooms of the Center for Disease Control of Tien Giang province in 2022. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study of diagnostic equipment: machines, equipment or synchronous equipment systems for diagnostic work in groups 1, 2, and 3 of the equipment classification table. medical equipment at 5 departments of the Center for Disease Control of Tien Giang province in 2022. Results: The number and type of diagnostic equipment in the research departments reached the average rate of 58.2% and 53.5%, respectively. There are 93/110 (84.5%) diagnostic equipment operating normally and 17/110 (15.5%) damaged and under repair. 76.2% of equipment is not well managed. 84.9% of spare parts, repair tools, specialized measuring equipment have not yet met the maintenance and repair work at the department. Conclusion: Number and qualifications of maintenance and repair personnel; spare parts, repair tools, specialized measuring equipment and diagnostic equipment have not yet met the demand.
