Abstract

Hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) is widely used in Japan, Korea, for relatively high effectiveness in treatment of locally invasive (vascular invasion) Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and especially for patients with Child-Pugh B cirrhosis. It increases the survival time of patients with advanced HCC and reduces systemic side effects. Currently, the method is being applied in some hospitals in VietNam. We report a case where HAIC was performed, treating locally advanced HCC. After the intervention, the patient significantly reduced tumor size and portal vein thrombosis after only 4 courses of chemotherapy according to the Low-dose FP regimen. After this clinical case, we found that HAIC has a good effect in the treatment of locally advanced HCC.
