ANXIETY STATUS OF PATIENTS BEFORE AND AFTER SURGERY AT VINMEC TIMES CITY INTERNATIONAL GENERAL HOSPITAL IN 2022 AND SOME RELATED FACTORS

Abstract

Background: Psychological stress (anxiety) of patients before and after surgery is one of the issues that need attention. Excessive anxiety affects the effectiveness of treatment (the surgery is delayed or impossible, the patient's ability to recover is slow). Objectives: Determining the anxiety status of patients before and after surgery at Vinmec Times City International General Hospital in 2022 and some related factors. Methods: Cross-sectional survey, quantitative research. Results: The study collected information from 400 patients before and after surgery at Vinmec Times City International General Hospital through questionnaire. The study results showed that, the rate of patients feeling anxious before surgery was 13,3%, and after surgery was 4%. Three factors related to patient’s stress include: economic dependence, employment and time of surgery (p<0,05).
