Abstract

Background: Diquat herbicide poisoning is an emerging poisoning disease in the past few years, with complicated clinical and subclinical characteristics, severe lesions manifesting on multiple organs leading to resulting in rapid death for the patient. Objective: To evaluate the treatment results of patients with acute poisoning of the herbicide Diquat at the Poison Control Center of Bach Mai Hospital. Subjects and methods: 68 Diquat poisoning patients treated at Bach Mai Hospital Poison Control Center from January 2021 to August 2022. Research results: The mortality rate due to Diquat poisoning is high, accounting for 64.7%. Among the measures of restriction of absorption and increased elimination, adsorbent dialysis was the only measure to reduce mortality, although there was no statistically significant difference (p=0.125). Conclusion: Diquat herbicide poisoning has a high mortality rate. Adsorption filtration reduces mortality, more studies with larger sample sizes are needed to confirm the results.
