NEEDS AND ABILITY TO PAY FOR THE ELDERLY'S DAYCARE AMONG PEOPLE IN HANOI'S URBAN BUILDING IN 2021

Abstract

Daycare services for the elderly in urban areas in big cities are very concerning issues for many families. Those whose parents in the countryside want to bring parents to the city living with children, grandchildren, and families with older persons and family have elderly often have to stay their home alone. To determine the need and affordability for this service, we surveyed 201 household heads living in several randomly selected buildings in the An Lac, C1, C2, and C3 apartment is located in Cau Dien ward, Nam Tu Liem district Hanoi. Interview results show that only 5.5% of household heads disagree with the model of daytime health care centers with rehabilitation near the residence. In comparison, the number willingness to pay is 68.2%, the remaining puzzled is 26.3%. Regarding entertainment, exchanges with health care at an adult daycare, only 11% disagree. The number of willingness to pay was 52.2%. The remaining puzzled is 36.8%. The most popular services at daycare centers are communication to improve health, disease, self-care (75.6%), followed by physical training and nursing(73.6%), massage, acupressure, sauna (69.7%), scientific diet (64.2%), rehabilitation (60.2%), entertainment socializing (58.2%). With the suggested price of 200,000 VND / day for entertainment services at the center (excluding meals, transportation, and health care services), up to 45.8% agree to pay. At this price, 41.8% want to pay lower, but 12.4% can pay higher. There is a statistically significant correlation between the pay rate greater than or equal to the price of 200,000 VND / day and the factors of educational level and occupation of the study subjects.
