FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH QUALITY OF LIFE AMONG COLORECTAL CANCER PATIENTS

Abstract
Objective: To investigate factors related to quality of life of colorectal cancer patients after 3 months of surgery at Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital. Subjects and methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study in colorectal cancer patients who were treated at Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital from November 20th 2021 to May 20th 2022. Participants were assessed for quality of life using the SF-36 scale (SF-36 questionnaire). Results and conclusions: There were 200 patients who met the inclusion criteria with the mean age of 73, men accounted for more than 72.5%. The mean quality of life score was 73.0 ± 10.2 points. The mean score of physical health was 68.5 ± 14.6 points and mental health was 77.6 ± 13.3 points. Results of the assessment of the quality of life of colorectal cancer patients after 3 months of surgery were 2.5% of subjects were poor, 7.5% of subjects were moderately poor, 56.5% of subjects were moderately good, and 33.5% were quite good. Male, young age, group of subjects with stable occupation, group of patients with early stage (stage I, II) and group of patients with immediate colectomy were associated with high quality of life score with p<0.001.
