Abstract

Objectives: To assess the nutritional status of students in two primary schools in Trung Khanh district, Cao Bang province. Analysis of some factors related to undernutrition of students at research location. Subjects and research methods: The study was conducted by descriptive method with a cross-sectional design on 772 students and 772 student’s parents of two primary schools in Trung Khanh district, Cao Bang province. Research results: The overall malnutrition rate of the two primary schools was quite high, accounting for 17.9%, of which underweight malnutrition accounted for the highest rate of 8.0%, stunting malnutrition accounted for 5.7%, the lowest rate was waisting 5.4%. The overall rate of malnutrition among girls (18.3%) was higher than that of boys (17.5%), in which the rate of underweight and emaciation among female students (8.6% and 6.3 respectively) %) was higher than male students (7.4% and 4.5%). However, the difference is not statistically significant in the rate of 3 types of malnutrition and general undernutrition in boys and girls with p > 0.05. There was a statistically significant relationship between the educational level, occupation of the student’s parents and the student's malnutrition (p < 0.05).
