Abstract

Objecttives: To study "Compliance with surgical safety procedures of medical staff at Department of Plastic and Rehabilitation Surgery in the National Hospital of Dermatology in 2020" with the goal of modeling describe the status of medical staff's compliance with surgical safety procedures. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study, combined with quantitative at the Department of Plastic Surgery and Rehabilitation of the National Hospital of Dermatology, from January 2020 to September 2020with 217 surgeries using checklists. Assess compliance with surgical safety procedures. Results: The results showed that the overall surgical safety protocol compliance rate was 62.7%. The compliance rate was highest in the pre-anesthesia/anesthesia stage with 84.8%, the lowest in the pre-incision stage with 77.0%. The compliance rate of surgical safety procedures of the group of surgeons and anesthesiologists/technicians were both 81.6%, and the nursing group was lower with 69.6%. Some contents are still not well implemented, the compliance rate is not high, such as assessment of the risk of blood loss in the pre-anesthesia/anesthesia stage with 47.6%; estimated surgical time and essential diagnostic imaging in the pre-incision stage, 88.2% and 76.4%, respectively; full specimen labeling at the stage before the patient leaves the operating room is 80.9%. Conclusion: There is a need to strengthen supervision of medical staff on compliance with surgical safety checklists, especially assessment of the risk of blood loss in the pre-anesthesia/ anesthesia stage.
