Abstract

Objectives: Evaluation of survival time of gastric cancer in patients under 40 years old after radical surgery at K Hospital. Patients and Method: Retrospective and Prospective Study in 54 patients younger than 40 years old with radical gastrectomy during the period from 1/2018 to 6/2022. Results: Of the 54 patients, the mean age was 34 years old.Median disease-free survival was 47.1 months. The disease-free survival rates at 2 years, 3 years and 4 years were 97.9%, 95.2% and 51.6%, respectively. Mean overall survival was 52.0 months. The 2-year, 3-year and 4-year overall survival rates were 100%, 96.7% and 71.6%, respectively. Lymph node metastasis and depth of invasion affected disease-free survival. Stage I-II patients had a better median overall survival than stage III patients (54.9 months vs 47.0 months; p=0.011). Conclusion: The disease-free and overall survival rates at 4 years of gastric cancer patients <40 years old who underwent surgery at K hospital were 51.6% and 71.6%, respectively. Lymph node metastasis status, depth of invasion are factors affecting disease-free survival time.
