Abstract

By cross-sectional descriptive study design, the study was conducted on 382 couples for treatment at the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Objectives: (1) determine the prevalence of anxiety and depression and (2) analyze some factors related to anxiety and depression status of husband and wife. Methods: using medication and HADS scale to assess anxiety and depression. Results: The rate of anxiety in husband and wife is similar (29.3%). The rate of depression in the new wife group was higher than that in the husband group (16.2% versus 11%) and the mean score was also higher (4.26 points and 2.9 points; p<0.001). Some of the factors affecting anxiety status in the husband and wife group were quite similar, including the partner's anxiety status, timeduration, and the status of treatment failure. In the wife group when treatment failed, the state of depression was higher than that of the untreated group (24.8% and 10.3%), in the husband group the difference was not statistically significant. It has a stronger effect on the wife than the wife's influence on the husband's psyche Conclusion: The anxiety rates of husband and wife are similar. The wife's depression rate is higher. Psychological impact between husband and wife: treatment failure, long treatment time are 3 other factors affecting the subject's anxiety and depression status.
