THE SITUATION OF MEDICAL WASTE MANAGEMENT OF HEALTH STATIONS IN PHU BINH DISTRICT, THAI NGUYEN PROVINCE

Abstract
Medical waste is one of the hazardous wastes, which can seriously affect the environment as well as human health if not handled well. Objective: describe the current situation of medical waste at 20 health stations in Phu Binh district, Thai Nguyen province. Method: descriptive study, cross-sectional study. Result: 85% of health stations wase classify medical waste by color code; The rate of health stations collecting medical waste into boxes with the size of standard box bags is 85%; 95% in the sharps container and 100% in the medical waste container. More than 60% of medical stations is store medical waste. 40% of medical stations transport medical waste. 30% of health stations have solid waste that is treated in the form of burial; 60% of medical stations treat medical waste in manual incinerators; 90% of health stations are preliminarily treated medical waste at the place of generation. The authors recommend that the health stations of the Phu Binh District Health Center need to properly handle medical waste according to regulations.
