THE ACTUAL SITUATION OF SLEEP HYGIENE PRACTICE OF HYPERTENSIVE PATIENTS NAM PHONG COMMUNE, NAM DINH CITY, NAM DINH PROVINCE

Abstract

A cross-sectional study with direct 148 hypertensive patients’s interviews in Nam Phong commune, Nam Dinh city, Nam Dinh province to reveal the actual situation of sleep hygiene practice of hypertensive patients. The average score on sleep hygiene practice of patients with hypertension is 32.9 ± 8.1 on a scale of 65, of which 90.5% sleep more than 2 hours during the day; 23.7% of patients have a habit of using alcohol, coffee, and strong tea before going to bed; 73% of patients feel sad, stressed, angry before sleeping; there is 18.9% of patients answered that they often and always feel uncomfortable in their bed and up to 18.2% said that they always and often find the bedroom uncomfortable. Conclusion: Hypertensive patients in Nam Phong commune, Nam Dinh city have numerous limitations in sleep hygiene practice. Carrying out interventional measures and appropriate supports are necessary to help the hypertensive patients have good sleep hygiene and improve sleep quality in this group of patients.
