Abstract

Objective: To review international experience in managing, monitoring and treating people infected with Covid-19 in the community and recommendations for Vietnam to be proactive in responding to the Covid-19 pandemic. Methods: Literature review from international and Vietnamese official websites. Results and recommendations: Monitoring, management, and treatment in the community or at home should be considered for people with confirmed mild or asymptomatic Covid-19 infection, or for those suspected of being infected with Covid-19. Countries around the world have applied the model of caring for people infected with Covid-19 in the community and at home to reduce overcrowding in health facilities. Human resources involved in monitoring, managing and treating people infected with Covid-19 in the community will greatly reduce the burden on the health system, help other health workers focus on severe cases and maintain essential health services. Vietnam has gradually improved the response capacity of the health system in the prevention and control of Covid-19 and needs solutions to attract human resources and be ready to participate in monitoring, management and treatment of patients with Covid-19 at home and in the community.
