CHARACTERISTICS OF IMPACTED LOWER WISDOM TEETH WITH MESIAL ANGULATION

Abstract
The surgical extraction of wisdom teeth is an invasive procedure that carries potential complications before, during, and after the extraction. To minimize these risks, it is essential for the surgeon to have a comprehensive understanding of the pathological features of the impacted teeth, as well as a reasonable treatment plan. The present study aimed to provide a detailed description of the clinical and radiographic characteristics of impacted mandibular third molars with mesial angulation, based on the Parant II-III classification. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on 64 teeth extracted from 48 patients at the High-tech Dental Center (A7 building) of Hanoi Medical University between February 2021 and July 2022. Result: The majority of impacted teeth exhibited mesial angulation, with a prevalence rate of 76.6%. The distance between the distal aspect of Tooth 7 and the anterior border of the ascending ramus was greater than or equal to the mesiodistal dimension of Tooth 8, with the highest proportion being 70.3%. Most teeth did not exhibit any complications at the time of examination and treatment.
