Abstract

Background: Antibiotic treatment has the potential to increase host resistance, prevention and control of bacterial infections. However, improper indications or abuse can lead to antibiotic resistance. Objectives: Analyzing some factors affecting the use of antibiotic on surgical patients at Thai Binh General Hospital, in 2020. Methods: Cross-sectional survey, quantitative combined qualitative research. Results: Two groups of factors affecting the use of antibiotics including: (1) Factors that belong to the doctors: Do not prescribe as an antibiogram, respones to the needs of patients, indications according to the experience and habits of the individual. (2) Factors belong to the management: Lack of drugs, lack of IT for drug management, lack of clinical pharmacists, poor infection control, there is no specific guideline on the use of prophylactic antibiotics.
