Abstract

Objectives: To analyze costs and some factors related to treatment costs for patient outpatient asthmatics with health insurance at Can Tho Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Hospital in 2020-2021. Methods: a cross-sectional descriptive study on prescriptions and treatment costs in 142 medical records of patients diagnosed and treated as outpatients with medical insurance. at Can Tho Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Hospital from June 2020 to June 2021. Results: cost and structure of costs for outpatients: the average cost/person/treatment is VND 501,600. The total cost of the patient's medical services is VND 71,227,172. The highest proportion is drug costs (59.20%). In drug costs, the cost for the group of drugs in the form of a combination of bronchodilators and corticosteroids accounted for 76.26%. Insurance costs accounted for 81.87%. In outpatient treatment, there is a relationship between cost, cost structure and age group, level of asthma control, number of days of treatment and level of health insurance coverage. Conclusion: As a reference to help experts have an overview of the cost of asthma treatment, helping asthmatics reduce the economic burden of disease treatment.
