Abstract

Objective: Description of knowledge and practice of adherence in patients with type 2 diabetes treated as outpatients at the Department of Endocrinology and Endocrinology - Nam Dinh General Hospital in 2022. Subjects and research methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study on 170 patients with type 2 diabetes treated as outpatients at the Department of Endocrinology and Endocrinology, Nam Dinh Provincial General Hospital. Results: The percentage of patients who know about diabetes treatment with drugs accounts for 100%. The number of patients who knew they should eat low-sugar fruits accounted for 91.7%. The proportion of patients who knew they should limit sweets accounted for 98.2%. The percentage of patients who adhere to medication is 88.2%. Monthly follow-up accounted for 98.8%; rate of home blood glucose testing at regular level (>2 times/week) is 44.1%. Conclusion: Knowledge and practice of people with type 2 diabetes are still limited, so it is necessary to increase communication to patients about diet, lifestyle as well as measures to control blood sugar at home.
