DENTAL CARIES AND TREATMENT NEED OF DENTAL CARIES IN ELDERLY GROUP OF BINH DƯƠNG PROVINCE

Abstract

Objective: To determine the presentation of dental caries and treatment need of dental caries in the over 60 years old group in Binh Duong province. Material & methods: Describe cross section, select random beam sample, used DMFT index and treatment need index of caries. Results: Caries and rooth carie index was 32.1% & 5.7%. The value of caries and rooth caries decreased with age. The average value of DMFT index was 13.26 teeth, D- component was 0.9 teeth (6.8%), M-componet was 12.28 teeth (92.8%) and F-component was 0.08 teeth (0.6%). Dental caries and tooth missing increased with age. The treatment need index of dental caries was 32.1% with an average of 2.81 caries per person. Conclusion: Dental caries and treatment need for dental caries was a low rate, but tooth missing was a high rate in the elderly community in Binh Duong province.
