Abstract

Objective: To describe the clinical and subclinical characteristics of patients undergoing surgery to remove uterine fibroids at the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Materials and Methods: The retrospective descriptive study was carried out based on the medical records of 217 patients undergoing fibroid removal and histology as benign uterine fibroids at the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2021. Results: The age group from 31-40 years old had the highest rate (64.5%). The youngest is 17 years old. The oldest is 50 years old. Mean age 34.5 ± 5.7 years old. The most common symptom is menstrual disorder, accounting for 35.9%, followed by abdominal pain, accounting for 14.7%. Up to 33.2% of patients have no functional symptoms. Patients with 1 tumor have a rate of 79.7%. Cases with more than 3 fibroids is 12%. Patients with tumors of 6cm or more had the rate of 67.8%, the average tumor size was 6.3 ± 2.6cm. Patients admitted to the hospital without anemia accounted for 72.4%. Severe anemia accounted for 3.2%. Conclusion: The mean age was 34.5 ± 5.7 years old.
