Abstract

Objectives: Describe the malocclusion in pupils between the age of 12 to 15 years old in Vinh city, Nghe An province. Subjects and methods: Cross-sectional study on 334 pupils, between the age of 12- 15 years old in six Secondary schools in Vinh city from December, 2020 to March, 2021. The pupils were examined, took impression and measured the teeth with IOTN ruler to evaluate the status of malocclusion with Angle standard. Result: In 334 pupils, the thirteen years old had 82 pupils, the fourth years old had 85 pupils and the fifth years old had 86 pupils. According to classification of Angle malocclusion: there were 76% malocclusion and the boys had higher rate than the girls. Among the malocclusion, the class I one accounted 37.1%; the class II one accounted 24.2% and the class III one accounted 14.7%. The difference of malocclusion had statistical significance with p <0.05. Conclusions: the malocclusion in pupils between the age of 12-15 years old had high rate (76%) and there were statistical signifiance with age and sex.
