THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN PATIENTS WITH HAND ECZEMA AT THAI NGUYEN NATIONAL HOSPITAL, IN 2022

Abstract

Hand eczema is a common chronic disease of the skin. Patients often suffer negative impact on the socio-economic impacts and the disease affects their quality of life. The aims were to investigate the quality of life of hand eczema patients and some related factors. Methods: A cross - sectional correlational study was conducted on 90 hand eczema patients who had been diagnosed and treated at Thai Nguyen National Hospital. Results: The average age of patients was 30,47 ± 12,96 ages, female/male = 2.5; The disease duration from 1-4 years accounted for the highest rate (54.5%); Patients with moderate disease accounted for the highest percentage (83.3%), 52.2% of the patients assessed that hand eczema affects their quality of life moderately, the patients assessed that eczema affects the quality of life in 2 areas: symptom - sensation group and day-to-day activities are more affected. The results also showed a close correlation between the disease duration, severity of disease with patient’quality of life, with r values of r1 = 0,57 and r2 = 0,72. This correlation is statistically significant with p value <0.05.
