Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the orthodontic treament need in pupils between the age of 12 to 15 years old from December, 2020 to March, 2021. Subjects and methods: Cross-sectional study on 334 pupils, between the age of 12- 15 years old at 6 Secondary schools in Vinh city. The pupils were examined, took impression and measured the index to assess the orthodontic treatment needs like DHC index and AC aesthetic standard. Result: The rate of pupils with orthodontic treatment accounted for 71.1%; without orthodontic treatment accounted for 36.8%. The age of 15 years old group had the most rate in orthodontic untreatment. The rate of pupils with AC aesthetic treatment accounted 31.1%, among them the age of 13 years old group had the most common. Conclusions: The incidence of orthodontic treatment with DHC index accounted for 37.8%. The orthodoctic treatment need with AC aesthetic standard acounted 31.1%. The medium class reached the most rate in the orthodontic untreatment. The class III malocclusion had the most common.
