RIGHT KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE ON COVID-19 PREVENTION OF HEALTH CARE WORKERS AT SOME HANOI HEALTH FACILITIES IN 2021

Abstract

A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted to describe the correct knowledge and correct practice of Covid-19 prevention among healthcare workers (HCWs) at some medical facilities in Hanoi in 2021. The study was conducted on 530 HCWs at health facilities, Hanoi, in 2021. Medical staff with working experience from 5 to 10 years accounted for the highest percentage (31.13%). The percentage of medical staff who are married is 81.13%, they are involved in COVID-19 prevention and control and have contact with people with COVID-19 (accounting for 87.55% and 82.45%). 96.42% of HCWs have correct knowledge about cross-contamination in health facilities; 99.43% have correct knowledge about the route of infection through saliva. 90.57% of HCWs have correct knowledge about airborne infection. Over 83.77% of HCWs in the prevention and treatment sectors have the right knowledge about fever, cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing, need to consult for suspected cases and have the right knowledge about ventilation measures. HCWs have correct knowledge about COVID-19 prognosis and testing, not all patients are severe (96%); In the elderly and people with chronic diseases, obesity may have a worse prognosis (96.4%). More than 90.94% of them in both treatment and prevention blocks practice correctly in using PPE to prevent COVID-19 infection while working, using the correct type of mask (N95), using safety glasses or respirator, use headgear, use gloves. However, only 29.25% of HCWs are isolated from their families during the epidemic season.
