Abstract

Background: treatment adherence includes both drug-based treatments and non-drug therapeutic approaches. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many difficulties in diagnosing and managing chronic respiratory diseases such as COPD, asthma. Objectives: research on re-examination adherence, outpatient drug adherence, and related factors in patients with asthma and COPD during the COVID-19 pandemic. Material and method: a cross-sectional study was conducted on asthma and COPD patients receiving management at the Respiratory Unit - Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Result: mean age of 138 patients is 58,03 ± 16,58. The COVID-19 pandemic saw a decline in patients adherence, with the rate of follow-up visits from 55,79% to 44,3% because of various reasons. The proportion of non-adherence drug outpatients treatment accounted for 41,3%, no health insurance, and COPD groups A and B are factors associated with non-adherence. Conclusion: due to various objective and subjective factors, the rate of adherence with re-examination was reduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the proportion of patients who did not adhere to outpatient drug treatment was still reasonably high. It is essential to increase patients awareness.
