Abstract

Objectives: Describe pathological characteristics and some factors related to the results of applying laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal repair for inguinal hernia treatment. Subjects and methods: The study collected 69 male patients aged 18 years or older, with inguinal hernia and treated with TEP surgery at at Nam Dinh province's general hospital from October 2020 to June 2022. Results: The mean age was 54.3 ± 13.3 years old. The right hernia position is 60.9% more than the left side is 39.1%, there are no patients with bilateral inguinal hernia. The majority of patients with indirect inguinal hernia are 84.1%. Patients with inguinal hernia classification Nyhus IIIb was 44.9%, accounting for the highest rate, followed by Nyhus II 40.6%, Nyhus IIIa 13.0% and the lowest Nyhus IV was 1.4%. The mean surgical time was 65.2 ± 13.0 minutes (40-90 minutes). Long surgical time was associated with indirect inguinal hernia group, Nyhus IIIb-IV group and group with disease duration > 1 year. Conclusion: The application of laparoscopic completely extraperitoneal graft placement for inguinal hernia treatment is safe and effective
