KNOWLEDGE OF FOOT CARE AMONG TYPE 2 DIABETES PATIENTS AT THE ENDOCRINE-UROLOGY-KIDNEY DEPARTMENT NAM DINH GENERAL HOSPITAL

Abstract
Objective: To describe foot care knowledge among Type 2 diabetes patients at the endocrine-urology-kidney department of Nam Dinh general hospital. Subjects and research methods: Cross-sectional description study was conducted on 208 patients with a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes who are being treated at the endocrine-urology-kidney department of Nam Dinh general hospital. Results: Of the participants, The number of males was less than females; 51.9% of patients were with intermediate or higher education level; The duration of illness less than 5 years accounted for 42.3%; Most of the patients without foot complications (85.6%). Foot care knowledge of patients reached a good level, accounting for 86.1%; 11.1% of patients had moderate knowledge. Only 2.8% of patients had poor knowledge of diabetic foot care. Conclusion: Systematic, organized, and frequently repeated health education in foot care plays an important role in the prevention of diabetic foot ulcers. The targets of health education are improving the Self-care knowledge and self-protective behavior of patients, helping patients increase motivation and health care skills to facilitate adherence to treatment guidelines.
