Abstract

Objectives: Describe the knowledge and attitudes of nurses at Hanoi Medical University Hospital about urinary tract infection prevention in 2022. Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study, research data from 203 nurses working at Hanoi Medical University who completed the survey from August 2022 to December 2022. Results: The mean age of the study nurses was 31±5 years old. The average working life of the employee is 7.1±4.7 years. Only 37.4% of nurses participating in the study had satisfactory knowledge. There are 67.5% of the study nurses have a good attitude about UTI prevention in general. There is a significant relationship between the leadership of the department/hospital checking and monitoring the care of the nurses' urinary catheters with a good attitude about UTI prevention. Conclusions: The knowledge and attitude of nurses on the prevention of urinary tract infections are not high. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the knowledge of nursing staff through training courses, seminars and curricula.
