Abstract

Objectives: Analyse the cephalometric characteristics of the adult skeletal class III Vietnameses. Methods: Multi-center cross sectional study on 62 skeletal class III patients, 21 males and 41 females was carried out with the use of Ricketts, McNamara and Arnett cephalometric analysis. Results: The study confirmed the following characteristics of skeletal Class III: short anterior and posterior cranial base, short and retrognathic maxilla, long and prognathic mandible, retrusive upper lip, protrusive lower lip and chin, increased lower facial height. The main differences between sexes were the length and the height of maxilla and mandible. The closed relations between the amount of protrusion of lips and chin and the position, the length of both jaws as well as the inclination and position of the incisors were also confirmed.
