KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE OF DENTISTS TOWARD DETECTION OF SYMPTOMS OF SOME CHILDREN MENTAL DISORDERS

Abstract

Aim: The aim was to measure the level of knowledge, attitude of dentists towards detection of symptoms of some children mental disorders. Subjects and method: Dentists working in hospitals in Hanoi were included in this study. We conducted a cross-sectional descriptive study. Results: There was 35.7% of dentists with good knowledge; 26.8% of dentists being trained to detect symptoms of children mental disorders; 75% of dentists with need of professional support about children mental disorders. Conclusions: Less than half dentists had good knowledge, less than one- third dentists had proper training about detecting symptoms of children mental disorders and three-fourths dentists had need of professional support about children mental disorders. Hence, suggesting more researchs with larger sample size to access the need and efficiency of training program for dentists.
