Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study were to describe the evaluation of treatment of peripheral vascular malformations by direct percutaneous ethanol instiliation. Method: Prospective interventional study of series cases without controlled. Patients who has been diagnosed with peripheral vascular malformations from June 2016 to March 2019 at Gia Dinh People's Hospital, chosen base on the research records. All patients underwent clinical examination and imaging studies. Diagnosis of peripheral vascular malformation is based on ISSVA 2014 classification and treatment by direct percutaneous ethanol instiliation, outcome post treatment. Results: Data from 103 patients, including 35 men (34%) and 68 women (66%). The average age is 24.2 ± 14.1, most seen in group lower 18 years old (55.3%).  Our results show that more than half of all vascular malformations who have a 50-75% complete response on imaging and partial reponse on clinical improvement. The levels of patients who has complete reponse is high with 23.8%. In 1 case has partial reponse in imaging but complete reponse in clinical, and 4 cases a complete reponse in both imaging and clinical clinical. The correlation between the degree of reponse in the imaging studies and the degree of clinical reponse was statistically significant. Conclusions: Imaging feature is very important to determination and classification of periperal vascular malformation that help for treated planning. Treatment of peripheral vascular malformations by direct percutaneous ethanol instiliation has good result with a lot of patient who have complete reponse in imaging and clinical.
