Abstract

Background: Drugs have a direct effect on human health. The decision to choose a drug, route of administration, method of administration, dose, time of administration, and economic economic value of a prescription depends on the physician who directly examines and diagnoses the disease. In order to prescribe safe, reasonable and effective drug use for patients as well as save medical costs for patients, the role of the physician is very important. Objective: To evaluate the situation of outpatient prescribing at Vinh Chau Town Medical Center.  Subjects and research methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study. Results: 66.8% of prescriptions met administrative standards and 33.2% of prescriptions did not meet administrative standards. The rate of prescriptions prescribed in the health insurance list is 97.6%, and for drugs not on the health insurance list, it is 2.4%. The rate of prescriptions with antibiotic prescriptions was 18.4%, and non-antibiotic prescriptions was 81.6%. Prescription rate for injectable drugs was 9.6%, prescriptions for non-injection drugs was 90.4%. The rate of prescription vitamin prescription is 24.8%, non-vitamin prescription is 75.2%. The percentage of prescriptions that correctly prescribe the prescribed drug ingredients is 100%.The average number of drugs in a prescription is 4.91 drugs/prescription, the prescription for the most drugs is 7 types/prescription and the prescription for the fewest drugs is 1 type/prescription. Conclusion: the research results will help policy makers to come up with intervention solutions to improve the quality of management of the implementation of prescription regulations towards the rational, safe and effective use of drugs
