Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the clinical effect of pulpotomy treatment in immature permanent teeth with irreversible pulpitis with calcium silicate material (BiodentineTM). Materials and methods: A case series study, the study included 19 immature permanent teeth with symptoms of irreversible pulpitis in children aged 6-16 years. After partial/complete pulpotomy, the pulp was capped with BiodentineTM and filled with resin composite (3M ESPE, St Paul, MN, USA) or covered with stainless steel crown. The pain level was recorded according to the VAS scale at the time of 2,6,12,24,48 hours and 1 week after treatment. Clinical and radiographic evaluation was completed after 1 month and 3 months postoperatively. Results: The pain level decreased gradually over time and there was a statistically significant difference. Before treatment, the averages of VAS level were 4.16. The averages of VAS level post-treatment at 6, 12, 24, 48 hours and 1 week were 1.68 - 1.74 - 1.47 - 1.16 and 0.32, respectively. After treatment, the normal clinical symptoms reached 95%. Conclusion: Vital pulp therapy using calcium silicate material in immature permanent teeth with symptoms of irreversible pulpitis is considered acceptable and effective
