Abstract

Diabetes is a common chronic disease in the community. Patients with diabetes need to be managed and treated periodically at medical facilities. Compliance with the follow-up schedule helps facilitate the management of patients at medical facilities to improve treatment efficiency and prevent complications for patients. Objectives: Determine the percentage of diabetic patients who adhere to the follow-up schedule at the General Clinic of the University of Public Health in 2022 and find out some factors related to the appointment compliance rate.  Methods: Design a cross-sectional descriptive study combining quantitative and qualitative information, collecting information from 240 patient records of diabetes management and treatment, in-depth interviews with 2 doctors, 3 nurses, and 10 patients with diabetes. Results: The follow-up schedule compliance rate was 53.75%. The age group 60-69 tended to have more scheduled follow-up visits than the age group under 50 (OR= 4.09, p<0.05). Patients with complications had a higher tendency to have follow-up visits on time than patients without complications (OR=3.42, p<0.05). Patients using health insurance combined with self-pay for paraclinical services tend to have follow-up visits on time than patients using only health insurance (OR=1.78, p<0.05). Patients with permanent residence in Thuy Phuong ward tend to be more on-time than patients with permanent residence outside Bac Tu Liem district (OR=6.67, p<0.05).
