CHARACTERISTICS OF SCAR IN CLEFT LIPAND PALATE PATIENTS BEFORE TREATMENT WITH YAG LASER

Abstract
Objectives: to describe the lip scar characteristics of the scar in cleft lip and palate patients treated with YAG laser. Methods: clinical trial. Subjects were 35 cleft lip and palate patients who had surgery, then they were treated scars with YAG laser. Results: 100% of cases are sticky scars that stretch, deform and thicken red lips. 94.3% had sticky and fibrous scars, 97.1% of scars were 1-2mm in height, 100% of scars had pink Vascular properties 82.9% had mixed pigmented scars according to the improVed VancouVer scale. Conclusion: Scar characteristics in cleft palate patients who had surgery and treating with YAG laser was a stretchy, sticky, slightly conVex scar with pink Vascular nature and mixed pigmentation.
