Abstract

Objectives:  To examine the diagnosis categorization according to modern and traditional medicine and the treatment situation of the low back pain disease at the Outpatient Acupuncture Clinic, Hanoi General Hospital of Trditional Medicine. Subjects and methods: Prospective cross-sectional study. Enrolled all patients admitted to the Outpatient clinic from January to September 2019. Results: In the study duration, the Outpatient Acupuncture Clinic treated 150 low back pain patients. For the diagnosis categorization, the majority of the low back pain patients had the acute development (72%), the mechanical etiology accounted for the vast majority (87.33%). Among that, the patients categorized in the liver – kidney deficiency pattern were accounted for 32%. Conclusions: This study has summarized the information relating to the diagnosis categorization according to the modern and traditional medicine, providing an overall and completed of the low back pain disease diagnosis for the Outpatient Acupuncture Clinic. From these results, the therapeutic methods were considered appropriate for the diagnosis and should be recommended to enhance the treatment outcomes and prevent recurrence for patients.
