Abstract
An intracardiac echocardiography is an excellent tool used to guide closure of an atrial septal defect. Compared with transesophageal echocardiography, the intracardiac echocardiography provides a better image of the posterior inferior rim, it does not require deep or general anesthesia, and it allows the operator complete control over the acquisition of ultrasound images. In the following, we provide background information on using intracardiac echocardiography to guide atrial septal defect closure.
