Abstract

Objectives: The study aimed to describe the practices of households in preventing dengue fever in Truong Quang Trong ward, Quang Ngai City, Quang Ngai province, in 2023. Methodology: A descriptive study on 414 Truong Quang Trong ward households in 2023. Results: The study showed that 37,9% of households have good practices. Mosquito rackets and mosquito coils are the most common way of Dengue fever prevention. The prevalence of households that conducted appropriate prevention dengue fever measures was ranging from 36,7% to 97,1%, in which the measures related to houses, furniture (>90%), water containers (>70%); cleaning around the house, garbage and waste tools (<70%). Some factors that were significantly associated with practices included education level (OR=2,2; 95%CI: 1,4-3,4), occupation (OR=2,0; 95%CI: 1,2-3,1), and dengue-infected history of the family member (OR=3,8; 95%CI: 2,0-7,4). Conclusion: To prevent dengue disease, the local health sector should promote communication activities about dengue fever to the community and implement environmental sanitation activities in the living area.
